Stress responses in expressions of microRNAs in mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis exposed to cadmium

چکیده
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are known to have complicated functions in aquatic species, but little is about the role of miRNAs mollusk species under environmental stress. In this study, we performed small RNA sequencing characterize differentially expressed different tissues (whole tissues, digestive glands, gills, and gonads) blue mussels ( Mytilus galloprovincialis ) exposed cadmium (Cd). summary, 107 32 novel were significantly p < 0.01) after Cd exposure. The peak size was 22 nucleotides. Target genes these expressions related immune defense, apoptosis, lipid xenobiotic metabolism showed significant changes These findings provide first characterization mussel M. many target response • miRNA expression pattern characterized Cd. متن کاملEffects of 17beta-estradiol exposure in the mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis.
Mussels Mytilus galloprovincialis were exposed to different concentrations of estradiol (20, 200, and 2000 ng/l) in a semi-static regime (1-day dosing intervals) for up to 7 days in an attempt to see how mussels dealt with exogenous estrogenic compounds. Sex hormone levels were determined in whole tissue. Free-estradiol was only significantly elevated at the highest exposure dose (up to 10-fold...
متن کاملTranscriptional Response of the Mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis (Lam.) following Exposure to Heat Stress and Copper
Global warming is a major factor that may affect biological organization, especially in marine ecosystems and in coastal areas that are particularly subject to anthropogenic pollution. We evaluated the effects of simultaneous changes in temperature and copper concentrations on lysosomal membrane stability (N-acetyl-hexosaminidase activity) and malondialdehyde accumulation (MDA) in the gill of t...
متن کاملRole of metallothionein against oxidative stress in the mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis.
Metallothionein (MT) is a sulfhydryl-rich protein involved mainly in heavy metal homeostasis and detoxification. In this study, the use of the mussel as an experimental model allowed us to test MT antioxidant properties at the molecular, cellular, and organism level. MT induction was achieved by mussel exposure to Cd (200 μg/l) in aquaria for 7 days followed by detoxification in the sea for 28 ...
متن کاملAntimicrobial Peptides from Mussel Mytilus Galloprovincialis: the Myticins
Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have been found in different bivalve species but a remarkable abundance of these small peptides has been reported for the Mediterranean mussel, Mytillus galloprovincialis. In particular, the myticin C (Myt C) is the most abundantly expressed gene in cDNA libraries and also in Next generation sequencing projects after immune stimulation. This AMP presents a high gen...
